Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-11-03
This policy explains what information Text To Speech
(“the app,” “we”) collects, how it’s used, and
your choices. It covers version 2.1 and later of the mobile app published on Google Play with package id in.nazarud.tts. Version 3.0 added natural voices, a one-time Pro purchase and Send feedback, 3.1.1 added “Need your own app?” (section 2.10), and 3.2 adds reading web links you choose (section 2.11).
Earlier versions (1.x) sent the text you typed to an online voice service (VoiceRSS). Version 2.0 no longer does: it reads text aloud with the speech engine on your phone.
1. Summary (plain English)
- Text To Speech reads text aloud. It doesn’t need a user account. The texts you listen to, your place in them and your settings stay on your phone. We have no servers of our own apart from a small relay for what you choose to send, we collect nothing ourselves, and the app has no analytics or crash reporting of its own. The exceptions are the feedback (section 2.8) and the app-development request (section 2.10) you choose to send.
- The text you type, paste or share into the app is never sent anywhere by the app. Speech is made on your phone, including the natural voices, which you download once from Google Play and which then work offline. A link you ask it to read is downloaded from its own website (section 2.11).
- If you share or paste a web link, the app downloads that one page or file straight from its website, only when you tap, and keeps its text in your library on your phone. The website sees your IP address and the link, as with any visit. Nothing goes to us (section 2.11).
- Files you open in the app (PDF, Word, EPUB and others) are read on your phone. Only their text is kept in your library; the file itself is not kept, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Pro is a one-time purchase that Google Play processes. The app stores only that Pro is unlocked (section 2.9).
- The app shows a banner ad from Google AdMob on the Library screen. Pro removes it. Where the law requires it (the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and other regulated regions), Google’s consent form (UMP) asks you first. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
- Settings → Send feedback sends a message to the developer only when you tap Send, and only what you wrote plus, if you leave the switch on, the app and phone details listed on that screen. You may add an email address for a reply; it is optional.
- Settings → “Need your own app?” lets you ask the developer to build an app for you. Only what you type there (your name if you give it, how to reach you, and what you would like built) is sent, and only when you tap Send (section 2.10).
2. Information we collect
Nothing, ourselves, apart from the feedback (section 2.8) and the app-development request (section 2.10) you choose to send. We don’t collect, receive, or store any other information from your use of the app on any server of ours. The app does contain Google’s advertising software (AdMob), which collects some information itself; section 2.3 explains what. This section also describes what the app keeps on your device and what happens when you use its features.
2.1 Stored on your device
- Your library: the texts you have listened to, saved in the app’s private storage as an index file (
library.json) and one text file per entry, together with the position where you stopped, so you can resume. For a file you opened, the entry also keeps the file’s name and type, its page, chapter or slide positions, the language it declares, and a fingerprint of the file (a SHA-256 hash) so that opening the same file again finds your place. - Your settings: the app language, the theme, the voice language, the voice you picked for each language, the speed and the pitch.
- Counters and flags: when you first opened the app (the ads stay off for the first 24 hours), whether you have seen the intro, how many texts you have listened to the end, and whether the rating prompt has been shown, how many minutes of natural voice you have used today (the free daily allowance, counted on your phone only), and whether Pro is unlocked.
All of the above is stored in the app’s private storage on your device and is never sent to us — we don’t have servers for it.
If backup is turned on in your Android settings, Android may include this data in your own Google account backup, so it can come back when you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. That backup is managed by Android and your Google account, and we can’t see it.
2.2 Speech
The app speaks in two ways, and both work on the phone, without a network. The text you type, paste or share is therefore not sent anywhere by the app. A link you ask it to read is downloaded from its own website (section 2.11).
- Phone voices: the app uses your phone’s own text-to-speech engine. That engine is a separate app (for example, Speech Services by Google or the engine your phone maker installed) and has its own privacy policy; we don’t control it.
- Natural voices (version 3.0): the voices are downloaded once from Google Play (Play Asset Delivery), as a voice pack of about 145 MB. After that they run inside the app, on your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere while the app reads to you. The audio the app makes is saved on your phone so that listening again is fast. It is deleted together with its text, or when you tap Clear in Settings, and Android may also clear it when your phone needs space.
While the app reads aloud with the screen off, it shows a playback notification with media controls. These are local to your phone.
2.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows one banner ad, served by Google AdMob, on the Library screen. There are no ads while you listen, and no ads during your first 24 hours after installing the app.
To show, measure, and protect these ads, AdMob may receive your device’s advertising ID, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, your interactions with ads, and diagnostic information. Where consent is required, ads are personalised only if you agree to it; otherwise they are limited or non-personalised. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
Google’s handling of this data is described in its Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
2.4 Consent (Google UMP)
Where the law requires consent for ads, the app shows Google’s consent form, from Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP), and asks first. The form stores your choice on your device. You can change it at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
2.5 Rating prompt
After you have listened to a few texts to the end, Google Play may show its in-app review sheet. Google handles it, and we receive nothing from it.
2.6 Text shared into the app
You can share text to Text To Speech from another app, or pick “Read aloud” in another app’s text-selection menu. You can also paste from the clipboard when you tap Paste. That text is saved only in the app’s library on your phone, and is read aloud on your phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else by the app.
2.7 Files you open
You can open a file from the app, or with “Open with” or Share in another app. The app copies the file into its private cache on your phone, takes out the text, saves that text in your library, and deletes the copy. All of this happens on your phone: the file and its text are not sent to us or to anyone else, and the app needs no permission to your storage for it (Android hands over only the file you chose). A password you type for a protected PDF is used once to open it and is not saved.
2.8 Feedback you send
Settings → Send feedback lets you write to the developer. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. The app never sends feedback in the background and never keeps a message to send later.
- What is sent: the message you wrote; an email address, only if you type one into the optional email field; and, only if the “Include app and phone details” switch is on (it is on by default, and the exact lines are shown under the switch), these details: the app version and build, the Android version, the phone maker and model, the app language, the kind of voice in use (natural or phone), the state of the natural voices download, whether Pro is on, and the speed limit shown on the Natural voices screen.
- What is never sent: the texts or files you read, their names, any identifier of you or your phone (no install id, no advertising id), or your location.
- Where it goes: over an encrypted connection to a small relay that the developer runs on Cloudflare Workers, which forwards it to the developer’s Telegram account. Cloudflare and Telegram handle it only to deliver it, under their own terms and privacy policies. The relay does not store or log the text of your message or your email address; it keeps only a count of messages per day and a short-lived rate-limit counter tied to your IP address, to stop abuse.
- How long it is kept: the message stays in the developer’s Telegram chat until it is deleted. It is used to read and answer feedback, to reply to you if you left an email, and to fix problems. It is not used for ads, analytics or profiling, and it is not shared.
- Deleting it: email xpnazar@gmail.com and ask, and the developer will delete your message and any email you gave.
2.9 Purchases (Pro)
Version 3.0 has one purchase: Pro, which unlocks unlimited natural voices and removes ads. It is paid once, with no subscription. Google Play processes the payment, under Google’s terms and privacy policy. We never see your card or account details. The app asks Google Play whether you own Pro, and stores only that Pro is unlocked, on your phone. Without Pro, natural voices have a free daily allowance of listening time. The app counts it on your phone only and reports it to no one.
2.10 App-development requests you send
Settings → “Need your own app?” opens a form for asking the developer to build an app for you. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. The app never sends it in the background and never keeps a request to send later.
- What is sent: your name, only if you type one (it is optional); the contact you type so the developer can reply (an email address, a phone number for WhatsApp, or a Telegram username); the description of the app you would like built; and, so the developer knows where the request came from, the app’s name and version and the language the app is shown in.
- What is never sent: anything else from the app or your phone: not the texts or files you read, no identifier of you or your phone (no install id, no advertising id), and not your location.
- Where it goes: over an encrypted connection to a small relay that the developer runs on Cloudflare Workers, which forwards it to the developer’s Telegram account. Cloudflare and Telegram handle it only to deliver it, under their own terms and privacy policies. The relay does not store or log your request; it keeps only a count of requests per day and a short-lived rate-limit counter tied to your IP address, to stop abuse.
- What it is used for: only to read your request and reply to you through the contact you gave. It is not used for ads, analytics or profiling, it is not added to any mailing list, and it is not shared or sold.
- How long it is kept, and deleting it: the request stays in the developer’s Telegram chat until it is deleted. Ask for its deletion by email to xpnazar@gmail.com, or by replying through the contact you gave, and the developer will delete it within 30 days and confirm.
2.11 Links you ask it to read (3.2)
You can share a web link to Text To Speech, or paste one, and the app reads the page or file it points to. This is the one case where the app itself goes online for your text. Nothing is downloaded until you tap to open the link.
- What it does: the app downloads that one page or file straight from its own website, over HTTPS, with a single request for the link you gave. A link that starts with http is tried once as https, and is refused if the website has no secure address. If the website sends you on to another address, the app follows it, up to 5 times, and only over HTTPS. It loads nothing else the page refers to: no images, scripts, ads or trackers.
- What the website sees: what any website sees on a visit: your IP address, the link, the app’s name in the request, and the language the app is shown in. The app sends no cookies and keeps none, and sends no account or advertising identifier.
- What goes to us: nothing. The link and the page do not pass through the developer’s servers or the feedback relay. The website you chose handles the request under its own privacy policy, which we don’t control.
- What is kept: the text taken from the page, and the link as you shared it, are saved in your library on your phone. They are deleted when you delete that entry in the app. The downloaded copy sits in the app’s private cache only while the text is taken out of it, and is then deleted.
3. How we use the data
- Show your library and let you resume where you stopped.
- Remember your voice, speed, pitch, language and theme.
- Decide when the banner ad may be shown, and when to ask for a rating.
- Keep the free daily allowance of natural voices, and remember that Pro is unlocked.
- Read and answer the feedback you choose to send.
- Read and answer the app-development requests you choose to send.
- Download the web link you ask the app to read, and keep its text and address in your library (section 2.11).
Nothing is used for analytics or profiling by us.
4. Data we never receive
- The text you listen to, type, paste or share.
- Your name or phone number, unless you type them into the app-development request form (section 2.10).
- Your email address, unless you type one into Send feedback (section 2.8) or the app-development request form (section 2.10). The app never reads it from your phone or your accounts.
- Your contacts or your photos.
- Your precise location.
- Your library, listening positions or settings — they stay on your phone.
- Payment card or account details. Google Play handles Pro payments (section 2.9).
What Google AdMob collects (section 2.3) goes to Google, not to us. AdMob only gives us totals, such as how many ads were shown.
5. Your choices
- Privacy choices — where consent applies, change your ad choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
- Android’s ad settings — reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your phone’s settings.
- Natural voices — remove the downloaded voices at any time in Settings → Remove natural voices. Reading then uses your phone’s voices.
- Saved audio — clear the audio saved on your phone in Settings (Clear), or delete a text from the library, which deletes its audio.
- Feedback details — in Send feedback, turn off the “Include app and phone details” switch to send only your message (section 2.8).
- Your library — delete any text from the library inside the app.
- Uninstall — removes your library and settings from your phone. If you use Android backup, your Google account may keep a backup copy until Android removes it or you delete it in your backup settings.
- App-development requests — nothing is sent unless you tap Send, and your name is optional (section 2.10).
6. Children
Text To Speech is not directed at children. Its target audience is 13 and over. We collect no personal information ourselves, from anyone, apart from what someone chooses to write in a feedback message (section 2.8) or an app-development request (section 2.10), and we don’t knowingly collect any from children under 13. If a child has sent us feedback or a request, email us and we will delete it.
7. Data retention and deletion
This section covers Text to Speech: Read PDF Aloud (package in.nazarud.tts) by XP Developer on Google Play.
To have your data deleted:
- Email xpnazar@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Text To Speech data”.
- Say roughly when you sent feedback and, if you gave one, the email address you typed in, so we can find your messages.
What is deleted: every feedback message you sent (section 2.8), the app and phone details sent with it, and any email address you gave. They are deleted from the developer’s Telegram chat within 30 days of your request, and we reply to confirm. We keep none of it, and apart from an app-development request (next paragraph) we hold no other data about you.
An app-development request (section 2.10) is deleted the same way: say roughly when you sent it and the contact you gave. It is deleted from the developer’s Telegram chat within 30 days of your request, and we reply to confirm.
Data the app stores stays on your device (and in your Android backup, if you use it) until you delete it in the app, clear the app’s storage or uninstall Text To Speech. Saved audio is deleted with its text or from Settings. The natural voices stay until you remove them or uninstall the app. Google Play keeps your purchase record under its own policy. Information that Google collects for ads is kept by Google under its own policy; you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone’s settings.
8. Third parties and international transfers
The app’s own code sends no data to any server of ours, except the feedback (section 2.8) and the app-development request (section 2.10) you choose to send, which go through Cloudflare to Telegram. When you ask it to read a web link, the app contacts that link’s website directly (section 2.11). Google services run inside the app: AdMob serves the banner ad, the User Messaging Platform shows the consent form, and Google Play delivers the natural voices, processes the Pro purchase and handles the rating prompt. They run on Google’s global infrastructure, including servers in the United States, under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. The speech engine on your phone is a separate app with its own privacy policy (section 2.2).
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this page when we add features or change providers. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in the app’s Play Store release notes.
10. Contact
